A service for anyone who has difficulty hearing: On a semi-regular basis, we present special Sunday matinee screenings of major new releases with on-screen captions, or "open captions." This means that you can see the dialogue of the film presented as subtitles on the screen. We are one of the few Canadian cinemas that still offer open captioned screenings as an accessibility service.
Everyone is more-than-welcome to attend our captioned screenings, not just people with hearing difficulties!
Note: Due to technical restrictions with digital cinema distribution & playback, we are only technically *capable* of doing captioned screenings of movies released by the major Hollywood studios (e.g. Universal, Disney, Warner Brothers, etc). The majority of the films we play at The Screening Room come from smaller distributors, who unfortunately (due to financial constraints) do not distribute their films with the necessary open captions capability.
