The Screening Room is thrilled to present Bleak Week: Cinema of Despair, running June 12 to 18 in partnership with the American Cinematheque.
A week-long festival showcasing some of the greatest works of cinema from around the world, the series ventures into the darkest sides of humanity and the bleakest points in human history. Harrowing yet deeply powerful, the lineup brings together films defined by stark imagery, unimaginable tragedies, existential dread, nihilism, and shocking acts of brutality. Featuring some of the world’s leading filmmakers, Bleak Week embraces a cinema of despair in pursuit of unsettling truths and raw empathy.
