A documentary crew follows the contestants for a local teen beauty pageant in small town Mount Rose, Minnesota. There’s scrappy Amber Atkins (Kirsten Dunst) who hopes to win a college scholarship, and Becky Leeman (Denise Richards) whose mother, Gladys (Kirstie Alley) is the head of the pageant organizing committee and a previous winner, raising concerns of possible rigging. When contestants, and citizens close to the pageant, wind up dead, the filmmakers reveal the deadly lengths some contestants will go to in order to win the crown.
